We were commissioned by Chris Yeo to create a new website to showcase his antique products and allow customers to easily get in contact with him. Having not had a website previously, a major part of the brief was to create a clean, simple but beautiful brand to represent Chris Yeo Antiques on the web.
It was important that the Chris Yeo Antiques site was search engine optimised to allow potential customers to find the site by searching for individual pieces of art, Chris Yeo’s name, but, importantly, the names of specific designers. To broaden the global appeal of the site, we also put the costs of each item in Sterling Pounds, Euros, and US Dollars with an automatic update system to ensure that the amount was relative to the changing exchange rates.
As with all of our projects, we ensure each decision we make is based on firm research based facts. As part of our investigation into Chris Yeo’s potential site users, we were able to quickly determine the importance of a clean elegant design to emphasise antiques within his site and the addition of multiple currencies, to attract a wider audience.
To ensure that the site reflected the shop’s art gallery style and simplicity, the design of the site needed to have a clean and modern look to highlight the featured antiques and ensure no other elements of the site were competing for the user’s attention. We wanted visitors to the site to experience the full impact, almost as if they had just walked into a design gallery.
A major contributing factor to the development of the site was to maintain the ability for Chris Yeo to very easily manage his products, add to categories and add multiple photos.
To add to the clean ‘design gallery’ feel of the site and to encourage return visits to the site, we designed and developed a randomised homepage carousel so that the products shown on the homepage were constantly changing and showing off the breadth of products available.
Chris Yeo was happy with the end result and we quickly moved forward to launch the site. Since the launch we have continued to work closely with Chris Yeo further improving the SEO (search engine optimisation) of the site.
