A one year apprenticeship with a possible full-time role.
We are looking for an apprentice to come in to a growing, dynamic team at Worthers with a passion for web and mobile development.
The right person will already understand the basics of HTML and CSS having either created sites for friends or maybe for local organisations.
Academic qualifications and age are not limiting factors, however, we would expect a basic level of competence and understanding, especially in the area of IT.
Your role will be working closely with an experienced web developer to help create XHTML and CSS templates. You will learn our CMS platform and how to create commercial sites. You will contribute to a growing team by being involved in key stages of a project to create the front end interface for a variety of sites and respond to fixes and changes with existing clients.
This is far more a technical role than that of a designer, however, design skills and understanding are very useful and would be considered a positive.
We would expect you to be focused and serious about your work, contributing directly to projects and having an impact on the amount of work we can do very quickly. This will mean you will be a fast learner who is flexible and keen to bring real benefit not just enjoy a year of training.
Although it is unlikely in the year that you will have much direct client contact, you will be exposed to most areas of the business and will have the opportunity to learn about the whole project lifecycle and what's involved from winning business through to ongoing support.
We would need to see
- examples of some basic sites created
- your passion for the area of web development & design
- an understanding of the learning that would be involved in the role
- a desire to be part of a growing, successful team
- how you would ensure that you brought benefit to Worthers
What we would provide
- an environment for working on multiple projects for a range of clients
- creating front end code for real-life projects under within deadlines
- supervision and on the job training by an experienced web developer
- a basic salary and standard working hours within the bounds of the apprenticeship scheme
- the opportunity for a full-time role upon completion of the initial year
