- Open Mac Mail
- Right click on your mailbox, click edit 'mailbox name'
- Go down to Outgoing mail server, select 'Edit smtp server list'
- Click the + icon to add a new one server
- Enter the provided smtp server host name
- Below in Advanced, select MD5 challenge and response, enter the username and password supplied to you. You can also tick use SSL
- Click Ok and make sure you have selected to use that outgoing mail server and then try sending an email
For Thunderbird:
- Under Tools > Account Settings, click Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side at the bottom of the list
- Either select and existing smtp server or Add a new one
- Enter a description (for your own use)
- Enter the provided hostname in server name
- You can use port 25 or 587 (or 465 if using SSL)
- Authentication method (Password, transmitted insecurely OR try TLS/SSL)
- Enter the username and password provided by us
- Click OK and then make sure your account has selected to use this outgoing mailserver
For Outlook:
- Under the mail account settings you should find More settings
- In the General Tab set to the Outgoing mailserver as provided
- On the Outgoing Server tab, select 'My server requires authentication'
- Select Log on using and enter the username and password provided
- Don't tick 'Require Secure Password Authentication'
- On the Advanced tab you can use port 25 or 587 (or if using SSL port 465)
- Click OK to save
- Sometimes you may need to restart Outlook for this change to take effect
