For Mac Mail Users:
  • Open Mac Mail
  • Right click on your mailbox, click edit 'mailbox name'
  • Go down to Outgoing mail server, select 'Edit smtp server list'  
  • Click the + icon to add a new one server
  • Enter the provided smtp server host name
  • Below in Advanced, select MD5 challenge and response, enter the username and password supplied to you.  You can also tick use SSL
  • Click Ok and make sure you have selected to use that outgoing mail server and then try sending an email

For Thunderbird:
  • Under Tools > Account Settings, click Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side at the bottom of the list
  • Either select and existing smtp server or Add a new one
  • Enter a description (for your own use)
  • Enter the provided hostname in server name
  • You can use port 25 or 587 (or 465 if using SSL)
  • Authentication method (Password, transmitted insecurely OR try TLS/SSL)
  • Enter the username and password provided by us
  • Click OK and then make sure your account has selected to use this outgoing mailserver

For Outlook:
  • Under the mail account settings you should find More settings
  • In the General Tab set to the Outgoing mailserver as provided
  • On the Outgoing Server tab, select 'My server requires authentication'
  • Select Log on using and enter the username and password provided
  • Don't tick 'Require Secure Password Authentication'
  • On the Advanced tab you can use port 25 or 587 (or if using SSL port 465)
  • Click OK to save
  • Sometimes you may need to restart Outlook for this change to take effect
